Santa Barbara has been known for its historic and legendary Poso, a precious water source that has been a blessing to generations. Thanks to the generosity of Rowena Sumagaysay Silvederio and the SBCES Alumni officers, along with the batches who pledged at least 10K pesos each, the dream of enhancing the space beside this iconic Poso is becoming a reality.

The decision to preserve the Poso itself, untouched by human hands except for those of experts, reflects a deep understanding of its historical significance and the unique characteristics that make it a vital source of drinking water for the community. The absence of a written history only adds to its mystique, and it is a testament to the commitment to protect and preserve this invaluable resource.

“As we express our gratitude to those who have contributed to this noble cause, it is essential to recognize the vision behind the improvement project. The proposed construction of a handwashing facility, a study shed for students, and a welcoming area for foreign visitors and tourists aligns perfectly with the idea of creating a small, beautiful park-like space around the Poso, Silvederio explains.”

The Poso Enhancement Project is not just about physical improvements; it's about fostering a sense of community, education, and collaboration. The inclusion of a study shed not only provides a dedicated space for students to learn but also symbolizes the importance of education in the community.

Moreover, the idea of inviting foreign visitors and tourists to use this space offers a unique opportunity for cultural exchange. It opens a channel for them to interact with the school and LGU personnel, fostering understanding and appreciation for the rich heritage Santa Barbara holds.

“Looking ahead, we hope that this project will receive even more support from our community members. Every drop counts and every contribution brings us one step closer to transforming the area beside the Poso into a vibrant, educational, and culturally rich space, Silvederio added.”
