Eat your hearts out, ardent followers of VP Sara Duterte aside from BBM loyalists who still believe that pink and yellow are evil colors.

At the inauguration this week of the Sorsogon Sports Arena in Sorsogon province, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and former vice president Leni Robredo met, shook hands, and talked---hopefully burying the hatchet and leaving behind them all the bitterness and animosity that once defined their political fight.

Bongbong and Leni were political rivals in the two last national elections: for the vice presidency in which Leni won in 2016, and for the presidency later which BBM won convincingly in 2022.

This contest necessarily resulted in the consolidation of their respective camps and constituencies, and their long-running feud.

The interesting piece of news here is that Senate President Francis "Chiz" Escudero was instrumental in this reconciliation.

The President even thanked Escudero for helping him reconcile with his political rival.

At the signing of the Academic Recovery and Accessible Learning (ARAL) Law at Malacañang, Marcos said he appreciated Escudero’s goodwill gesture of inviting Robredo to the Sorsogon Sports Arena event.

“Senate President Chiz Escudero… has taken a very important step towards political reconciliation yesterday,” the Chief Executive said.

Marcos had a brief meeting with Robredo and her political ally, former senator Bam Aquino, at the venue. It was Escudero who invited Robredo to welcome Marcos on behalf of the Bicol Region.

The Bicol Region is the bailiwick of Robredo, who is running for mayor in Naga City, Camarines Sur in the 2025 midterm elections. The region is also Escudero's turf.

“Well done. I'm so happy you did that,” he told Escudero.

This development however leaves VP Sara Duterte in the cold, with the Unity Team of 2022 seeming like a century ago.

Sara's loyalists will never forget this turnaround.
