One of the prime movers if not special participants and organizers of the recently concluded “From Pen To Pixels Honoring the Past Embracing the Future,” the 60th anniversary of the Philets-Artlets of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) was Joselito B. Zulueta, better known as Lito Zulueta, newspaperman, literary and film critic, mentor and writer, a descendant of the Zuluetas from Oton, Iloilo.
According to Lito, his forebears went to Marinduque but his roots are entrenched in Oton.
Anyway, although Zulueta was not around during the launch of the Philets-Artlets homecoming project last year but he was a big supporter of the event because he is a very active member of the Faculty of Arts and Letters, also known as Artlets, as a professor.
The Grand Gala Night at the Tent City of the Manila Hotel recently was a resounding success because of the collective efforts of people behind the project like Artlets Alumni Association President Henry Tenedero, Artlets Dean Melanie Turingan, entertainment journalist Nestor Cuartero, Artlets alumnus and active member of Rainmakers Joel Macanaya, among others.
Zulueta was very pivotal in bringing together all the potent forces of the event to make it happen.
As a graduate of the college in 1986 with a degree in Bachelor of Arts (AB) in Journalism, Lito, was in his leadership elements.
The headway of the reunion was also contributed by Lito in his influence as a popular figure in mass media and academe.
Many famous people, all Philets and Artlets progeny, attended the event like Julie Yap-Daza, Cristina Pantoja-Hildalgo, Pacita Syquia-Almario, Isay Alvarez, Jojo Alejar, Ali Sotto, Sandra Aguinaldo, Marinel Cruz, Mon Gualvez, Isko Salvador, better known as Brad Pete, Bo Cerrudo, Lou Bonnevie, Joey Lina et al.
