If this saying "life begins at forty" is true, then we're practically dead for almost 39 years, right? Or everything before that was just a warm-up for the real deal.
When people talk about life beginning at forty, it's more about hitting a milestone where we start to see things from a different perspective. It's not about discounting or forgetting the years that have passed; it's about embracing the present and looking forward to what lies ahead. This age is often associated with a sense of maturity, self-awareness, and a newfound appreciation for life experiences.
As we journey through life, we accumulate wisdom, knowledge, and a better understanding of ourselves (unless tumatanda na paurong).
By the time we reach forty, we may have gone through enough ups and downs to have a clearer vision of our values, goals, and priorities. It's a time when we might start reevaluating our choices, focusing on what truly matters to us, and pursuing paths that align with our passions.
Why specifically forty, we may wonder? Well, it's more of a symbolic number. In modern times, with an average lifespan of around 80 years, reaching forty marks the mid-point, of our journey. So, let's meet half-way.
It's a time when many people have already built their careers, established relationships, and gained a sense of stability in various aspects of their lives. There's a sense of confidence and readiness to tackle new challenges and explore new opportunities that may come our way.
Now, if we feel like a late bloomer or that we're still figuring things out past the age of forty, don't worry. Everyone's life path is unique, and there's no one-size-fits-all timeline for success or self-discovery. What matters most is that we're taking the time to reflect on our journey, assess where we are, and make choices that set us on a fulfilling path moving forward.
It's interesting how, sometimes, we realize the true meaning behind certain sayings only when we've personally experienced them. So, as we navigate this phase of life and ponder what it means to us, take heart in the fact that there are still endless possibilities and adventures waiting for.
Embrace this moment of reflection, as we read this column, and use it as a springboard to chart a course that resonates with the person we've become and the dreams we hold dear. Because truly, life is a journey of discoveries, a wisdom that I ironically learn upon reaching the age of 45, not 40, which is exactly today December 12, 2024 my natal day.
