While waiting for the latest showbiz updates for this space, I was expecting the return of three male tree cutters reportedly from Barangay Pacita 2 here in San Pedro City.
Early morning at the start of last week, Villa Castillo Homeowners Association President Floyd Rodilla was overseeing the cutting of the excessive mango tree trunks and branches over extending the other side of the road.
I told Floyd my guava trees in front of the house are also growing tall that might ignite electrical wiring and other cable connections and they need a trim.
He requested the tree cutters to chop off my guava trees and a certain Jason answered in the affirmative.
After they were done with the mango tree, I noticed that they walked out of the village so I asked them (including a certain Noel) if they would still cut my guavas.
They said they'd do it after lunch.
I waited till kingdom come and no Jason and company showed up.
What's the matter with these guys?
Did they think they were not authorized or ordered by their superiors to do our requests to cut my guava trees so they dismissed our call?
It was an official request from the village prexy himself and it was a courteous plea from me, a resident of Barangay Pacita 2 San Pedro, Laguna.
Or did they think I would not shell out a token of appreciation (read: consuelo money)?
Or they forgot all about it?
But they had the whole afternoon to bring out the matter up to their brains.
The least that they could do was go back to my place to inform me what happened re request.
The most humiliating, inhuman, unfair treatment from them was that they came back the day after to continue cutting the remaining extra over growing mango trunks and leaves but they didn’t even bother to approach me.
What uncouth behavior without being nasty and abominable physical actions.
Silence is also discourtesy.
The problem with people, indeed.
Anyway, a Kim Chiu story came up after a few moments that she attended the 1st death anniversary mass for her beloved TV Executive Deo Endrinal, one of her patrons at ABS-CBN.
It seems like only yesterday.
Kim walked alone inside the chapel before the start of the mass prompting many attendees to ask where Paulo Avelino must be since he's also part of ABS-CBN family.
Deo, a pivotal brainchild in creating Chiu as a star from being winner of "Pinoy Big Brother (PBB)" Teen Edition 2006, died on February 3, 2024.
That is why Chiu holds high esteem on her patron.
At the time of Endrinal's death, KimPau, a portmanteau of Kim and Paulo was and still is a hot love team, on and off-cam.
They were paired in hit TV series such as "What's Wrong with Secretary Kim" that catapulted their duo popularity to the top.
They were also featured in the series billed as "Linlang" which galvanized their stronghold.
Sensing KimPau's engaging and flourishing market, Star Cinema, ABS-CBN's film arm got them to headline the film "My Live Will Make You Disappear."
The movie which was intended to be released last year had a massive promo at the beginning until mid-part to the last quarter. Wonder why its hullabaloo, particularly the shriek evoking romance of Kim and Paulo—real or imagined—suddenly slowed down.
The latest development is that the film will finally hit international screens in March.
