The film “Mananambal” was conceptualized and conceived as early as 2023.

It was the time when the project was the talk of the town because the Superstar, the award-winning actress Nora Aunor was tapped to star and lead the cast.

Everyone was excited about the movie especially with Nora in the headline.

In his Facebook wall in 2023, filmmaker Philip Daffon was anticipating the camera roll on the project since it was first offered to him.

At the time, Nora Aunor had already the knowledge that she was considered in the title role and she waited for the official announcement from the movie company.

Aunor, as I was talking to her at the time, was excited about the film and another offer, a masterpiece by Joselito Altarejos.

She had to wait for the right time to explain her situation because her fans were also eagerly awaiting her participation in the project.

“Marami po tayong gagawin ngayong taong ito (We have so many things to do this year),” Guy assured me, her fans and followers.

Daffon had been swarmed with inquiries about the certainty of La Aunor’s major appearance in the film.

“July 8 or 10 pa po ang (will be her) start niya. Magpo-post po kami soon. Wag po kayo mag-alala (Don’t you worry) thank you so much po. Tuloy po si Ate (Older sister) Guy (is sure to star in the film). Wag po kayo mag-alala (Don’t you worry). I’m sure magapopost po (we’ll post) as soon as possible),” replied Philip to his concerned netizens.

Yet, the supporting cast had already gone ahead of its shoots in Siquijor Island in the Visayas.

Bianca Umali, Kelvin Miranda, Edgar Allan Guzman and Jeric Gonzales got the share of their participation when they were already shot.

The young set of stars, after shoots, had a courtesy call on the mayor of Siquijor, Richard C. Quezon, which was reported by Philip.

Until the project was assigned to Adolf Alix Jr. as director.

No problem with Nora about change of directors in her project as long as she knows the capability and competence of the director assigned.

According to Aunor, she enjoyed shooting in the mysterious island of Siquijor.

The teen stars like Bianca, Jeric, EA, Kelvin were also fascinated by the unique culture and tradition of the island known as the mystery island.

Suddenly, it was Viva Films that marketed and booked the film for distribution.

“Mananambal” is about a faith healer who confronts her ability to heal the sick but at the same to transform herself into a sorcerer.

“Mananambal” signals the screen comeback of La Aunor after almost three long years of anticipation by Noranians to screen her projects.

Will the film draw audiences?

Will it last in the marquee?

Will it be recognized abroad as an outstanding product in the world market?
