MEA culpa.

It’s a Latin phrase that means "through my fault" and is an acknowledgment of having done wrong according to Wiki.

The expression is used also as an admission of yes, guilt.

That’s what ABS-CBN exactly did on the heels of a formal complaint lodged by the provincial government a day after Palm Sunday over a newscast supported by an infographic placing Batangas under ECQ together with other Calabarzon-member provinces.

Struggling to regain a lofty perch on the pecking order of TV networks, ABS-CBN rectified the “slip” pronto with the same infographic and texts less, of course, Batangas.

With the network acting in haste to rectify what appears to be an honest mistake is very much appreciated from where I sit.

But the damage has been done. Both ways.

Damage on the part of some of the province's LGUs trying to keep afloat economically ditto with the network's own reputation on reporting.

Nevertheless, netizens already had a field day assailing ABS-CBN.

Some claim the network is nothing but a purveyor of "FAKE NEWS" and that's the reason why it was shuttered by the Duterte administration they said.

Amid the forest of derisive comments, all but one commented in favor of ABS-CBN claiming the error could be an honest mistake as the network acted with haste to rectify it.

And methinks, that could be the right thing to do as we don't need to drive the wedge deeper down for we are all in the same boat called coronavirus pandemic.

And speaking of Covid-19, it simply is worthwhile to note the Provincial Jail of Batangas has zero incidents of the virus.

We doff our hat for a job well done. Congratulations!

This zero incident of Covid-19 for a crowded provincial jail was relayed to us and validated by no other than jail warden Genaro Cabral, a former Municipal Administrator of Lemery.

It must be a very sound jail management over there for the former assistant provincial attorney.

Atty. Cabral also worked before as Prosecuting Attorney at National Police Commission. He earned his spurs from St. Mary's Educational Institute, De La Salle-Taft, Manila; San Sebastian College, and Colegio De San Juan De Letran.

Because of this, Gov. Dodo Mandanas awarded the provincial jail of around a hundred lechon oner day before his 77th birthday last March 25th.

Keep up the good work warden!
