President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi are consciously and deliberately drawing the maritime lines between their two countries without regard to the presence of Taiwan which sits between them.

Critics have been saying that this EEZ and continental shelf delimitation initiative comes from direct orders from Washington. That’s why Beijing is severely peeved. The situation might deteriorate into another global conflict.

China deployed coast guard ships in response to an announcement by Japan and the Philippines that they would discuss their maritime boundaries in waters that Beijing views as its own. Beijing strengthened its patrols in waters east of Taiwan, which is expected and is well within its right.

“These are necessary actions in response to Japan’s and the Philippines’ manipulation of maritime delimitation issues and infringement upon China’s maritime rights and interests,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun explained.

This elicited a joint statement of concern from former China colonizers Britain, France, and Germany—all US allies. Raising fake concern about stability in the Southeast Asian region which is very far from Europe, these 3 countries expressed alarm about what they described as “novel Chinese activity."

While the three claimed China’s alleged disruption of regional stability, Guo stressed that China's law-enforcement and patrol activities were aimed at maintaining regional stability and maritime order.

A joint statement from the de facto embassies of the three European nations in Taiwan said China's actions threatened regional stability, freedom of navigation and the safety of international shipping. Joining the chorus, the US also expressed concern about the patrols.

Britain, France and Germany do not have the moral right to criticize China on its patrols since they were its most egregious and evil colonizers a couple of decades ago.

Britain used opium exports from its colony India in getting hordes of Chinese masses addicted to the drug, destroying the country’s moral fiber, its government and economy. The Chinese had to fight two Opium Wars, first against Britain, and later against Britain and France, thus losing the territory of Hong Kong for 99 years.

France colonized Indochina, now the countries of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam, particularly Tonkin, Annam and Cochinchina, and even the Chinese territory of Guangzhouwan from 1898 to 1945.

Germany’s fleet arrived at Jiaoshou Bay in 1897 and the next year colonized the area, establishing their capital in Qingdao. Germans ruled from 1898 to 1915, before they were replaced by British and Japanese forces in 1915.

Spokesman Guo is correct in saying that China is within its right to patrol its waters, to prevent the return of Western powers which divide its sovereign country like a piece of cake.

Guo said that the coast guard activities were “legitimate exercises of jurisdiction in accordance with the law.” Shame on you, European colonizers.
