The romance wasn't whirlwind but the wedding was.
Unlike other showbiz couples who have professed their love and gotten through an engagement party publicly, lovers Charlie Dizon and Carlo Aquino surprised everyone with their sudden decision to tie the knot, this time not unlike death, but life pulsating, like a smart and the kindest of thief in the night.
It wasn't too long ago when Carlo was romancing actress-model Trina Cardaza whom he has a publicized daughter named Mithi whose precociousness amazes everyone.
Suddenly, we learned in the morning news about the intimate (but oh so many private guests hobnobbing in public) wedding between Carlo and Charlie when the evening was just ripe for a victory party of another celebration.
Best Actress
Charlie was just proclaimed Best Actress the night before by Gawad Urian of the socially committed Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (MPP) for her outstanding performance in a labor-centric film "Third World Romance" directed by the lady of the masses, Dwein Ruedas Baltazar, who also went to take home the Best Director plum of this identifiable onscreen slice of petty bourgeois human condition.
We had no inkling Charlie would be sweetly tasting victory twice in a row in just a span of hours.
In her acceptance speech that reverberated in the four corners of Verdure Hall of the Henry Sy, Sr. Hall of the De La Salle University in Taft Avenue, Manila, our Urian Best Actress thanked profusely her boyfriend Carlo, who was absent in the event although he was nominated for Best Actor in the same film, and her immediate family who was around that evening straight from the United States of America.
Charlie was cool and relaxed at the momentous history created by the Manunuri for her and the whole Philippine society.
She was by no means staying put until the last guest of the 47th Gawad Urian had left the room.
Charlie and company went home and obviously prepared for her personal moments as a woman to be unveiled as the bride the following day.
The Day After
In a very cozy, bucolic part of Silang, Cavite, Charlie wore her elegant wedding frock and in one of her Instagram photos, she was captured to have waited on a bench with the groom seated in the other end for the final turn of her single-blessedness.
The Dizons (and the Matienzos, Charlie's paternal clan) and the Aquinos were present to witness a filial piety of two young people in love.
The guests as well as the other well-wishers came rushing in twos particularly the bridesmaids and best men.
Major sponsors were ABS-CBN top brass, Carlo Katigbak, President of the largest multimedia conglomerate and Cory Vidanes, Vice-President for Production; Charo Santos-Concio, Senator Ramon "Bong" Revilla, Jr. and Lani Mercado, Vilma Santos-Recto, and Veronique del Rosario, among others.
