Celebrities have already awakened about the socio-political condition of the country.

They aren’t only in show business to make people laugh, cry, wonder, fear, tickle their earthly imagination and all the entertainment they could afford to create fun and amusement.

Movie, television, theater, music and multimedia artists are here to inspire, motivate, decide and call to action on what to do with people’s problems especially those that affect their lives, one of them economic life.

Audiences may think stars don’t have concerns about the welfare of the people but in this day and age of enlightenment especially coming from the democratic, free education and information of truths in the internet for the betterment of lives, they go out from their comfort zones to join their fellow Filipinos to fight for what is right and just.

The militancy of show business was first experienced during the 1st Trillion-Peos March in EDSA People Power Monument and Bahain ang Luneta at Rizal Park last September 21, 2025, the commemoration of Martial Law of the late dictator Ferdinand E. Marcos, Sr.

During that time, high profile celebs like 2018 Miss Universe Catriona Gray, Vice Ganda, Jodi Sta. Maria, Elijah Canlas, Gardo Versoza, Tessie Tomas, Julia Barretto, Maris Racal, Andrian Alandy, Pinky Amador, Mae Paner (also known as Juana Change), Anne Curtis, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Lovely Rivero, Glenda Garcia and many more highlighted exposes of corruption in government.

The protest actions of these celebs were triggered by the seemingly open robbing of the taxes they pay to the government by the kickbacks of politicians, public servants like the officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) with the connivance of private contractors through the scandalous flood control projects amounting to billions and trillions of pesos.

During the 2nd Trillion-Peso March in the same venues—EDSA and Luneta—there were other showbiz personalities present at the rallies. The comeback rallyists were Catriona, Lovely, Glenda, Juana Change, Pinky and a lot more.

The attendees at the November 30, 2025 rally that coincided with the 162nd birth anniversary of Andres Bonifacio were Celeste Legaspi, Mitch Valdez, Jackie Aquino, Anna Ilagan, Shyr Valdez, Carmi Martin, to name only a few.

According to Carmi, it was her baptism of fire joining mass actions for social and political change.

In her Facebook pages, Carmi posted various photos of her militant participation in the event criticizing government officials about thieves among their ranks.

“A meaningful day for our nation. We began at 6am with a prayer walk in Makati together with our church mates, my dear friend Toni Co, and our Rebuild Church family. From there, we headed to the Luneta Rally for Actors Against Corruption. Now closing the day at the Manila Hotel—grateful, hopeful, and standing strong for truth and our beloved country,” noted Martin in her narrative.

Hail! Carmi for being transformed into a socially committed artist and woman.
