In the news, COA flags redundant consultants in Ilocos Norte. The consultants were then asked to repeatedly sing the national anthem before the Philippine flag.

Ayala Corp.’s core profit went down by 19% in the first quarter of this year. Good or bad?, let’s see who is talking. But going down by 19% is some form of a miracle considering the recession the country is going through.

Lawyers are an interesting lot. They exchange insults in style.

Former Senior Justice Carpio accepts the dare of President Digong to debate on the issue West Philippine Sea.

President Digong, a fiscal who became a mayor and became the President of our country, turned around and backed out from his own challenge.

Saying the President can not debate with an ordinary person, he assigned his lawyer spokesperson to face former Supreme Court Senior Associate Justice Carpio.

Carpio is an expert on the issue of the South China Sea, winning an international court decisionthat declared China is not correct in its claim over the South China Sea.

To Malacanang, Carpio is an ordinary mind so it sends an equal to the former justice of the Supreme Court.

But lawyers are sometimes also funny, specially jokes going around in their profession.

One of my favorites is that story of God deciding to bring the devil to court to settle their differences. Satan laughed aloud, saying “Where do you think would God get a lawyer?”

Price list in a brain story. Engineer’s brain - $50 an ounce; doctor’s brain - $75 an ounce; lawyer’s brain - $500. Customer asked, why the lawyers such that expensive? Answer; “Do you know how many lawyers you have to kill to get one ounce of brain?

Quiz Bee:

Question: Why won’t sharks attack lawyers? Answer: Professional courtesy.

What’s the difference between a lawyer and playboy? The playboy only screws a lady victim one at a time.

What’s the difference between a vampire and a lawyer? A vampire only sucks blood at night.

Have you heard of this advocacy group who claims to represent hundred other groups that is asking the government to stop building roads. These roads destroy the environment, the group claims.

This group condemns the car-centric bend of this government. It is instead promoting active transportation and gets corporate sponsors on their environment advocacies.

I am with the Road Users Protection Advocates (RUPA) and we agree the government is making a mistake in allowing more private motor vehicles to flood our streets.

Every year hundreds of thousands join the fleet of millions of cars in our roads.

While the number of vehicles is rapidly increasing, construction of road to accommodate these vehicles is slow if at all.

The gap between cars and space has widened to crisis proportions that it is not only the economy that is dying but people from pollution. Slow traffic induces higher pollution risks. And slow traffic from over crowded roads is solved only by building more roads.

This advocacy group is barking at the wrong tree.
