Since it's Valentine's week, I thought it would be a good time to share a love story that never really was—at least not in this lifetime. Two years ago, I met this amazing girl during one of my seminars. From that day on, she became a regular at my Kamalayan Cafe Sessions, where we dive into all sorts of spiritual topics and relationship discussions. We explored everything from universal laws to past lives, reincarnation, soul mates, and twin flames.

As we spent more time together, we grew closer—not in a romantic way, but in a deep, meaningful friendship. There was something special about our connection, a comfort that made it easy to talk about anything. I genuinely enjoyed our conversations, and I could tell she felt the same.

Recently, we found ourselves in Baguio, surrounded by the beauty of the mountains and the cool air. While we were discussing past lives, she mentioned that she could see the past lives of people just by placing her hand on their chest. I was curious, so I asked her if she could read mine. She smiled and agreed, placing her hand gently on my chest and concentrating.

What she saw shocked me. She told me that in a past life, I was religious as a young man, which I confirmed. But then she excitedly revealed something I wasn't prepared for—she saw us as husband and wife with two children. A happy marriage, she said. I felt a mix of surprise and disbelief wash over me. I’ve never been married in this lifetime, so hearing that she was my wife in a past life left me reeling. Could she really be my soul mate?

The concept of a soulmate has always fascinated me. It’s often described as someone with whom you share a profound, natural bond. This connection can take many forms—romantic, platonic, or even familial. But what truly defines a soulmate? For me, it’s about comfort and understanding. When I’m with her, I feel at ease, as if we can share our thoughts without any filter.

In our discussions, it's clear we support each other’s growth. We challenge one another, encourage each other to explore deeper truths, and celebrate our journeys. It’s refreshing to connect with someone who fosters mutual growth and understanding.

I also learned that you can have multiple soulmates throughout your life. I used to think there was only one person out there for everyone, but now I see it differently. Relationships can be harmonious and fulfilling in various ways, and they can evolve over time. This makes me wonder if I’ve encountered other soulmates along my journey.

Reflecting on my friendship with her, I realize it may not fit the traditional notion of romance, but it’s still incredibly meaningful. Whether or not we were married in a past life, our bond feels special in this one. And maybe that’s enough.

On this Valentine's Day, I’m grateful for the love we share, even if it’s not in the way that most people think of love. It’s a connection that transcends time, one that reminds me of the beauty of relationships in all their forms. So while I might not have a classic love story to tell, I have an extraordinary friendship that feels like a piece of something greater—a love story that never was, but still means so much.
