Members of the Pinagkaisahang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Operator Nationwide (PISTON) announce during a press conference held at Balai Obrero in Quezon City Monday, December 11, that they will stage yet another transport strike on Friday, December 15, in protest of the December 31 deadline for consolidation of franchises of public utility vehicles (PUVs).
The national government has not yielded to demands from transport groups to rescind the franchise consolidation program, which they claim will disadvantage small-time drivers and operators.
