Extra service equals extra compensation.
Former employees of Relaxense Spa in Tacloban City call for justice and just compensation for the alleged trauma they endured after authorities closed the establishment.
According to the reports, the spa was closed last July 12 after it was found violating Republic Act 7610 and 9208 also known as anti-trafficking and anti-prostitution laws.
In an exclusive interview, former employees of the spa exposed the atrocities of the management and claimed that they, too, are victims of abuse and prostitution.
Engage or Be Fired!
According to alias “Ben,” a massage therapist, they are often forced into engaging in sexual acts with their costumers allegedly in compliance with the instructions of the owner, Reymund Montejo, or they would be fired.
"Ben" further disclosed that there were instances where they provide the “extra service” due to financial needs as, allegedly, the were not paid on time.
A total of 12 employees claimed that they would often beg Montejo to give their actual commission.
After the spa was padlocked, the employees demanded compensation and justice from Montejo for what they went through.
Extortion, Obscenity
However, claims of the former staff were refuted by Montejo.
He said CCTV footage would refute what the former therapists claimed.
Montejo said he has been running his business "clean" and complete of legal documents.
"Hindi ko kailangan magbenta o ibenta ang aking mga tao para lang magkapera. We have 21 spa branches in the Philippines."
Montejo further accused the said therapists to be maligning his business and reputation after being fired due to obscenity and extorting their customers which are clear violations of the establishment’s rules and a breach of their contract.
Unjust Closure
Montejo claimed that the closure was unjust as they were not even given the chance to provide the necessary documents and explain prior to the closure.
Owners appealed to the public to stop the allegations and maintained that they are running a proper and reputable business.
As of this writing, several other branches of Relaxense were also closed following the raid of the Pasay branch.
Owners, however, claimed that the case in Pasay had already been dismissed for lack of probable cause.
