For the local government of Tayabas City, Quezon, the recent memorandum of agreement (MOA) signed with officials of a major high school for its "immersion program" represents a win-win solution for both the LGU and students.
Recently, Mayor Piwa Lim inked an agreement with West Palale National High School, led by its assistant school head Marvin Rosales, which formalized the provisions of the school's "Work Immersion Program" with the local government.
In line with this, a total of 89 senior high school students from this school started their 10-day work immersion program with the Tayabas City local government last Thursday, February 12.
Mayor Lim personally met with the students on their first day of their work immersion, during which he encouraged them to make the most of their stay with the local government.
"Pagbutihin ang pagkakataon na ito para matuto at makakuha ng panibagong kaalaman. Nawa ay maging makabuluhan ang sampung araw na pamamalagi ninyo sa Lokal na Pamahalaan ng Lungsod ng Tayabas," the city executive said in his message.
Under the program, senior high school students will be assigned to various government departments inside the Tayabas City Hall for 10 working days, during which they will be given first-hand experience on the various duties and responsibilities of each local department.
Through the work immersion program, school officials hope these students will be equipped with the skills and knowledge that will become invaluable to them once they finish their schooling.
Meanwhile, the local government of Tayabas City hopes that their time working inside the city government will guide these students towards choosing a career and open up opportunities for them to serve the nation through entering the civil service.
