Woodrose Chorale’s Sofia Laurel has genuine love for music

One of the talented members of the award-winning singing group Woodrose Chorale is Sofia Laurel, a great, great granddaughter of the late Philippine president Jose P. Laurel.

Sofia's dad is John David Laurel, a great grandson of the ex-president.

According to John David's wife, Dumaguete City native Samantha Pfleider Amigo Laurel, her husband sings well.

"Sa kanya nagmana si Sofia. Mahihilig talaga sa music ang mga Laurel (Sofia indeed inherited his genes for music. The Laurels are indeed music enthusiasts)," said Samantha.

According to Sam, Sofia wants to pursue singing.

"She wants to join the 'Voice Kids"," she enthused.

Woodrose Chorale of the PAREF Woodrose School in Ayala Alabang is making waves not only in the Philippines but abroad as well.

Last April, the choir won First Prize in the Folklore Category of the 2025 Golden Voices in Monteserrat in Spain.

Last month, the group bagged the Best Equal Voices, Traditional Folklore and Audience Choice Award at the 2025 Palawan International Choral Festival in Puerto Princesa City. Palawan.
