BALANKAYAN, EASTERN SAMAR – A 40-year-old woman was reportedly injured after being attacked by her live-in partner on December 5, 2024, in Barangay Caisawan. The victim, identified by the alias “Leti,” sustained injuries to her right hand during the incident, while her partner, known as “Jude,” 39, is a barangay tanod and resident of the same village.

Eyewitness reports indicate that the altercation escalated around 6:20 PM, when a heated argument erupted between the couple. Allegedly provoked by the dispute, Jude grabbed a weapon and struck Leti, resulting in her injury.

Following the attack, Leti was rushed to a nearby hospital for immediate medical attention. Fortunately, details regarding her condition have not yet been disclosed.

In connection with the incident, law enforcement promptly apprehended Jude, who is currently in custody at the Balangkayan Municipal Police Station (MPS). Authorities are conducting further investigations to determine the circumstances leading up to the assault.

The community remains in shock as it reflects on this violent occurrence within what was presumed to be a domestic space. Local officials urge residents to seek peaceful resolutions during conflicts and to report any instances of domestic violence.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about safety in domestic environments and the need for increased awareness and resources to address such issues.
