“We would like to keep the thrill of the fans of the late April Boy Regino and the public. It is also very hard to look for an April Boy Regino-look-alike so it’s not that easy to just show him in public. Dapat, may (There should be) mystery,” opined Marynette.
“Kailangan din, kamukhang-kamukha ni April Boy. At hindi lang kamukha, kailangan din na mahusay ding kumanta at kuhang-kuha ang boses at estilo ni April Boy. Hindi lang ‘yon. Sa kahirapan ng paghahanap namin ng April Boy Regino, hindi lahat ng kanyang kamukha o kaboses ay okay na (It was also required that our discovery is exactly and physically alike with April Boy. On the first-day shoot of the movie, the April Boy Regino actor was presented to the public with just his back and partial haircut reminiscent of the late singer on cam, video or still.
The screen name of the doppelganger wasn’t revealed yet.
“We will reveal the identity of our new actor in October,” Marynette announced.
“Idol: The April Boy Regino Story” is intended to be an entry for the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival.
