True to her mandate, Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) President Michelle Nikki Junia goes to all corners of the archipelago to personally attend arts and culture activities of the Filipino people.
Michelle Nikki, who has paternal roots from Tolosa, Leyte, took it upon herself to have time to go to the grassroots and share the importance of the progress and development of the national heritage.
Before the National Arts Month ended, Junia was able to see, feel, touch, hear and taste the regional achievements of the arts and culture programs in Palawan just in time for the annual observance of the celebration.
During her stay in Palawan, she was very enthusiastic to monitor and witness some of the projects of the province like the culminating activities of the NAM as recorded by Palawan PIO:
“Nagpakitang gilas ang mga mananayaw at mang-aawit ng Palawan State University (Palawan SU) Sining Palawan Dance Troupe at Singers gayundin ang Western Philippines University (WPU) Kantugyaw Dance Troupe at Chorale sa (Dancers and singers of Palawan State University (PSU) represented by Sining Palawan Dance Troupe and its singers with the Western Philippines University (WPU) Kantigyaw Dance Troupe and Chorale recently showcased their talents during the) Concert at the Park which was held at the Don Pedro Vicente Park of the capitol.
“Suot ang makukulay na katutubong damit ng mga Pilipino, ipinamalas ng bawat grupo ang galing sa pag-indak ng iba't-ibang katutubong sayaw sa Pilipinas at husay sa pag-awit ng Original Pilipino Music (OPM) na nagbigay saya sa mga lokal na residente at mga banyagang turista na nanood sa pagtatanghal (Dressed in colorful indigenous costumes of the Filipinos, each group presented their graceful movements of the various native dances of the Philippines and the seamless singing of OPM which offered entertainment to local residents and the foreign tourists who watched the show.
“Samantala, abangan naman ang Palawan National School Performing Group sa huling pagtatanghal sa Concert at the Park (Meanwhile, the performances of the Palawan National School Performing Group were awaited at the Concert at the Park show) two days before the month of February ended.
“Ang presentasyon tuwing Biyernes at Sabado ng gabi ay bahagi ng pagdiriwang ng Sikatugyaw Arts Festival sa Palawan na handog ng Pamahalaang Panlalawigan sa pamumuno ni Gob. V. Dennis M. Socrates katuwang ang National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) at Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) kaugnay pa rin sa selebrasyon ng (The shows every Fridays and Saturdays last month were parts of the celebration given to the public by the leadership of the Provincial Government headed by Governor Dennis Socrates in partnership with the NCCA and CCP in celebration of the) Philippine National Arts Month.”
As part of NAM, a book talk with historian Marie Silva Vallejo, author of “Dauntless: The 1st and 2nd Filipino Infantry Regiments, United States Army,” was engagingly held by the public lecturer to celebrate the Sikatugyaw Arts Festival.
Meanwhile, the passengers of MS Westerdam Cruise Ship which anchored at the port of Puerto Princesa City last February 29, 2024 visited the Palawan Heritage Center (PHC) of the Provincial Government of Palawan at the capitol.
The international tourists were welcomed warmly by the PHC leadership headed by Chief Administrative Officer Mary Rose Palanca-Caabay.
PHC staff and in-house artists served as tour guides of the guests in visiting the museum and annotated the city and provincial history, arts, culture and all the palpable and symbolic contents which are displayed in the repository.
