Art and politics are intertwined as they have only a split-hair difference, primarily, in their spelling but functions are supposedly both for the betterment of the people if only they avoid the human foibles.
In the case of Angono, Rizal artist Nemesio Miranda, Jr., he subscribes to the fusion of the two human agencies as long as he adheres to his beliefs.
On February 20, 2024, Nemi Miranda will once more convey the marriage of arts and politics when Vice President Sara Duterte graces and cuts the ribbon in his art show billed "The Art Philosophy of the Imaginative Figurism" at the 6th Floor of the KMC One Ayala in Makati City.
Witness the appreciation of Miranda on the brand of governance of Inday Sara in these lines provided by Giselle Sanchez in her column in a broadsheet:
"I just received the go signal from the Office of the Vice President that the honorable Vice President is coming to the exhibit launch. I have been a fan of her work since she was a mayor in Davao and now as Vice President. As a mentor, I have been following her projects sa DepEd Secretary and what she is doing to the students of the Philippines is brilliant and amazing," said Nemesio.
In response, the lady Duterte wrote a missive:
"Let me send congratulations to Nemesio Miranda, Jr. for whose magnificent paintings over the years have evoked profound messages of freedom and conveyed to us contemporary social challenges that we continue to overcome a a nation. It is an honor to witness your work that reminds us of the beauty of our culture, heritage and history, and I am deeply inspired by your singular heart to create an impactful message of hope from your art."
During the opening of the art exhibit, Nemi, as Miranda is also known, will present and gift Sara with a beautiful oil painting of herself.
Also featured in the show are fellow Angono artists Keiye Tuazon and Paul Greco Miranda.
