In her decades-long illustrious reign in the local film industry as an actress, Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos-Recto received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) Parangal ng Sining held Sunday night at the Seda Vertis North in Quezon City.
Vilma arrived at the venue in her radiant purple silk puffed long-sleeved and loose dark pants where she was hailed by colleagues and fans alike.
One of the early birds during the occasion was Diamond Star Maricel Soriano who met Ate (a term/expression/address of endearment to an older woman by blood or affinity) Vi at the hall and gave her a big hug.
In her acceptance speech, Santos-Recto said that she is “speechless” and “overwhelmed” by the recognition.
The actress was given the award for “transcending stardom into becoming a symbol of resilience and professionalism” as a public figure—both as an entertainer and as a former politician.
Other recipients of the award were film historian Nick Deocampo, movie director Martika Escobar, Laurice Guillen for Cinemalaya Foundation, producer Lily Monteverde, actor Soliman Cruz and actress Dolly de Leon.
