Actor and 2025 senatorial bet Phillip Salvador isn't only a Manileno.
He is also a Waraynon by virtue of his dad, the Master Showman Lou Salvador, Sr. who was born in Tacloban City in Leyte.
At the moment, Phillip is touring the whole Philippines not just as a candidate of PDP Laban but also as an actor.
This brings to mind when he suddenly appeared at our Villasanta Clan Reunion at the Mom's Backyard in Lopez, Quezon on December 30, 2025.
Salvador was at the family get-together to celebrate with us.
Ipe and I have gone a long way as writer-subject relationship even when he was just starting in the field.
It was our common association with now National Artist for Film Lino Brocka that we were close.
I was a protégé of the still missing popular entertainment journalist, talent manager, star builder, TV host and live events organizer Boy C. de Guia—the predecessor in the media career of Boy Abunda—who was the business and personal manager of Lino, so I, together with Danny Vibas, Pilar Mateo and Lhar Santiago, was given the chance to connect to Phillip.
It was a connection of quality association and not mere skin deep affiliation.
Phillip's presence in the Lopez (a town in the CALABARZON region) was more of a friendly visit if not a multiverse or a multifaceted appearance.
This year, I initiated again a Villasanta Clan Reunion last Sunday, Easter Sunday at the same venue.
It was a challenging organizing family reunion that could spell a difference when the members of the clan would dare explore other goals of a clan get-together apart from seeing, hugging, eating and drinking together, tracing roots etc.
I believe family reunions are also occasions to uplift the economic, cultural, intellectual, political, metaphysical etc. well-being of individual members.
