A passenger attempting to board a flight to Hong Kong on Tuesday, July 9, was stopped by aviation police authorities who was found to have a standing warrant of arrest for charges related to women and child abuse.
The 37-year-old passenger, whose name was withheld, was supposed to check in for his flight at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 when a joint team of PNP Aviation Police, Manila International Airport Authority airport police, and personnel from Pasay Police Station Sub-Station 9 arrested the male suspect.
Initial reports said the man was accused of violating Republic Act No. 9262, also known as Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004.
Authorities did not provide details of the charge, except that the warrant specified a bail bond amounting to P24,000.
Aviation police added that the suspect was placed under the custody of Pasay Police Station Sub-station 9 (Villamor) for processing and documentation.
PNP Aviation Security Group director P/BGen. Christopher Abrahano commended the collaborative effort that led to the successful interception and arrest.
