After failing to fly to Berlin for Masters, Team Secret shows the world just how tough (and silly) Filipinos can be.
TEAM Secret bids Berlin goodbye after losing to European team Ascend 0-2 in the quarterfinals yesterday, December 8.
The all-Filipino Valorant team exits the season in 8th place.
The team is made up of the former squad of Bren Esports: Jessie “JessieVash” Cristy Cuyco, Jayvee “DubsteP” Paguirigan, Jim “BORKUM” Timbreza, Kevin “Dispenser” Te, Riley “Witz” Go, and their coach Gilbert “Gibo” Sales Jr.
This year’s Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) in Berlin started with 16 teams from a variety of regions competing on-stage. The series kicked off last December 1.
Since then, Team Secret faced off against Russia’s Gambit (1-2), Japan’s Crazy Racoon (2-0), before finally securing their spot in the quarterfinals by sweeping Team Vikings 2-0 last December 7.
The team also trended online after they started dancing as they entered the stage.
Before their match against the Japanese team, Witz danced the Otso Otso while DubsteP jumped over, luksong baka style.
Witz once again showed off before their match against Team Vikings with Dante Gulapa's iconic Eagle Dance.
“Team Secret on #valorantchampionstour not only played well but showed a fun-side of the PH. We really are silly people who dances & laughs through adversity,” wrote comedian Red Ollero.
However, come next morning, Team Secret fell to Acend, who is the first team to earn a spot in the VCT Berlin semifinals. They will face Team Liquid on December 11.
The Filipino team thanked their fans despite the bittersweet ending but hinted at more tournaments ahead saying, “This is only the beginning for us.”
For making it into the quarters, Team Secret comes home with $40,000. VCT Berlin will run until December 12.
