Sweetpea (2024)
Rhiannon Lewis is a quiet, overlooked woman who feels invisible in her daily life. She has long been haunted by the psychological scars of childhood bullying at the hands of Julia Blenkingsopp, a former classmate. These experiences have led Rhiannon to occasionally harbor violent fantasies. The only person who truly sees her value is her father, Tommy, who always encourages her to stand up for herself. However, when Tommy dies unexpectedly, Rhiannon is left devastated and alone.
Following her father's death, Rhiannon's life takes a series of unfortunate turns. Her boss, Norman, overlooks her for a promotion, and her sister Seren announces plans to sell their family home. To make matters worse, Julia returns to town as the estate agent handling the sale. Rhiannon’s frustration builds when her beloved dog, Tink, is killed in a hit-and-run accident after she is distracted by a billboard featuring Julia’s face. Consumed by anger and grief, Rhiannon confronts Julia, only to be rudely dismissed. The mounting pressure leads her to snap. In a drunken rage, Rhiannon kills a stranger after a heated argument, marking her first taste of murder and newfound confidence.
The next day, a body is found in the canal, and Rhiannon becomes involved in the case as part of her job, manipulating the situation to her advantage. Her reporting on the case is botched despite her involvement, but she is given another chance to redeem herself.
As suspicions grow, Rhiannon continues down a dark path. After a night at the pub with her coworkers, she follows a drunken man outside, luring him to an abandoned garage where she murders him, marking her second victim.
As the series unfolds, Rhiannon spirals further, confronting her ultimate bully, Julia, and trying to prove she’s no longer the same invisible girl she once was. At the same time, the cost of her violent actions begins to catch up with her.
