Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver (2024)

Kora and her allies—Gunnar, Tarak, Nemesis, Titus, and Milius—return to their village on Veldt, believing they have secured its safety by eliminating Atticus Noble and preventing the Imperium from claiming the village’s grain supply. However, their relief is short-lived when Aris, secretly working as a double agent for both the village and the Imperium, informs them that the enemy forces will arrive in just five days.

The news sends a shockwave through the village, dashing any hope of peace. With little time to prepare, the fighters unite with the villagers to harvest the entire grain supply in just three days, intending to use it as leverage to prevent the Imperium from outright destroying them. The remaining two days are dedicated to training the villagers in combat, with Titus leading the charge in forging them into warriors capable of defending their home. As exhaustion sets in, tensions rise, but their determination remains unshaken.

During these tense days, Kora and Gunnar grow closer, the weight of their shared struggles forging an intimate bond. As their trust deepens, Kora finally reveals a painful truth she has long kept hidden: she was once forced by Balisarius to take part in the assassination of the Motherworld’s royal family. Worse still, she was the one who pulled the trigger on Princess Issa, ending the life of the very person who could have ushered in peace.

Though Balisarius had tried to frame her for the coup, she had managed to escape, fleeing to Veldt aboard an Imperium dropship and living in exile ever since. The revelation weighs heavily on Gunnar, but he does not turn away from her. Instead, he reassures her that she is not defined by her past, strengthening their bond even further.

As the deadline looms, the group finalizes their defensive strategy. Trenches and tunnels are dug, explosives are planted in strategic locations, and Kora’s dropship is readied for a key role in the battle. While training the villagers, the warriors share stories of their past, strengthening their bonds as comrades.

However, despite the openness of the others, Kora still cannot bring herself to confess the full extent of her guilt. That moment of reckoning will have to wait. As night falls, the village stands eerily quiet, the weight of the coming battle pressing down on them like an unspoken storm.

When Noble’s dreadnought finally arrives, its overwhelming presence fills the sky with dread. His forces conduct a ruthless scan of the village, quickly pinpointing the location of the women and children who have been hidden away under the protection of Nemesis and Aris. Seeking to break the villagers’ spirits and draw Kora out, Noble orders his troops to take them hostage. U

Unable to risk their lives, Kora surrenders herself, believing Noble’s promise that he will spare the village in exchange for her life. But before Noble can take her, Gunnar, unwilling to let Kora sacrifice herself, triggers the ambush, throwing the enemy into disarray and rescuing her in the chaos.

With their hand forced, the villagers engage in battle. Titus and Tarak lead them in repelling the first wave of Imperium soldiers, and against all odds, the defenders hold their ground. However, their victory is short-lived. A second wave arrives, this one far more formidable, comprised of heavily armored, mechanized troops that begin decimating their defenses.

As explosions rock the village and flames consume the fields, it becomes clear that they will not be able to hold out much longer. The battle teeters on the edge of disaster, and the once-hopeful defenders begin to falter under the might of the Imperium’s forces. Aris, still torn between loyalties, must make a choice—one that will determine the fate of them all.

In a desperate move, Kora and Gunnar execute their final gambit. Using stolen Imperium uniforms, they infiltrate Noble’s dreadnought via her dropship, planting explosives deep within its power core.

Meanwhile, Jimmy, who has fully defected from the Imperium, joins the battle on the ground, using his mechanical strength to aid the villagers. As the battle reaches its peak, the explosives detonate, sending a shockwave through the sky as the massive warship begins to fall. The impact sends debris raining down onto the battlefield, and for a moment, silence fills the air before the chaos resumes.

Amidst the destruction, Gunnar suffers a fatal wound, his body weakening as he fights to stay on his feet. But even in his dying moments, he refuses to let Noble claim victory. When the admiral overpowers Kora in a brutal duel, Gunnar intervenes one last time, buying her the opening she needs.

With a final strike, Kora lands the killing blow, ending Noble’s reign of terror. As the dreadnought collapses around them, she drags Gunnar to safety, but his injuries are too severe. Even as Devra Bloodaxe and her rebel fleet arrive to wipe out the remaining Imperium forces, victory comes at a cost—Gunnar dies in Kora’s arms, his final breath a whispered farewell, leaving her with a heart-wrenching promise to see their fight through to the end.

In the aftermath of the battle, the village mourns its dead, honoring the sacrifices made for their freedom. The once-thriving village is left in ruins, but the spirit of its people remains unbroken. Kora, burdened by the weight of her past, finally finds the strength to confess her darkest truth.

She admits her role in the assassination of the royal family, bracing for the judgment of her allies. But instead of condemnation, she finds understanding. Titus, who had already suspected the truth, reveals something even more shocking—Princess Issa is still alive. The revelation shatters everything Kora thought she knew, turning grief into hope.

This revelation changes everything. With renewed purpose, Kora and her allies realize that their battle is far from over. The Imperium remains a looming threat, and Balisarius’ grip on the galaxy must be broken. With Issa alive, there is a chance to ignite a rebellion that could change the fate of the Motherworld forever. Resolute in their mission, they set their sights on the future, prepared to take the fight to the heart of the Imperium and challenge the very forces that once shaped their destinies.

Their war has only just begun, but this time, they are not fighting alone.
