There’s much, much more to expect in this year’s celebration of the Anilag (Ani ng Laguna) Festival, the province’s primary festival, now slated for March 10 to 17.

With the theme “Tuloy-tuloy ang Saya, Tara na sa Laguna,” the weeklong festivities to be held in the provincial capitol of Santa Cruz promise to showcase the best of the best of Laguna province’s diverse culture and economy, local officials told OpinYon Laguna.
In a message to OpinYon Laguna, Laguna Tourism Culture Arts and Trade Office (LTCATO) head Pam Baun bared the new activities slated by the provincial government for the 2024 Anilag Festival.
“Ngayong taon ay naglagay po kami ng sari-saring competition sa larangan ng pagsayaw at pag-awit. Meron din kaming inihanda na food exhibit kung saan makikita at matitikman ng ating mga bisita ang mga heirloom dishes ng mga kilalang matatandang pamilya ng Laguna,” Baun shared.
“Nariyan din ang ‘Fish-tahan’ event kung saan gagawin naming installation art ang isdang ayungin na kilalang fresh water fish na matatagpuan lamang sa Laguna de Bay. Magkakaroon din kami ng tattoo art competition na sigurado akong aabangan ng lahat,” she added.
Meanwhile, aside from the much-anticipated Ginoo at Bb. Laguna 2024, this year’s Anilag Festival will also feature beauty contests featuring other sectors of society such as the Mr. and Mrs. Laguna, PInakamagandang Lola and That’s My Lolo, and the Laguna Gay Queen and Lesbian King.
“Isa din sa mga dapat abangan na highlight ng festival ay ang aming Sagala ng mga mayora ng lalawigan kung saan ipagmamalaki at isusuot nila ang mga dinisenyong gowns ng mga kilalang designers sa Laguna,” Baun said.
Lagunenses will also be treated to concerts, pyromusical competitions, an “Arts and Music Festival,” and a Hot Air Balloon Exhibition.
Of special mention is the Land Float Parade in which various cities and municipalities in the province will get to showcase their rich history and culture.
“Ang tema ng Land Float Parade ng mga kasaling bayan ay iikot sa tourism campaign ng Laguna, ang ‘Love Laguna,’ na kung saan kailangan nila ma-showcase ang mga bagay na pinagmamalaki nila sa kanilang mga bayan at kung saan sila nakilala bilang tourist destination,” the LTCATO head added.
All activities and programs of the Anilag Festival will be aired live on the social media pages of the Anilag Festival and the LTCATO to ensure that every Lagunense can enjoy the festival, Baun said.
