Senator Raffy Tulfo has urged Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) head Arnel Ignacio to make necessary adjustments to the salaries of certain OWWA employees who are primarily responsible for the well-being of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs).

Tulfo noticed that certain employees at OWWA received low wages due to being part of the job order staff within the government agency. The Civil Service Commission allowed the contracts of service workers for temporary jobs.

After returning from abroad, Tulfo, who was the chairman of the Senate Committee on Migrant Workers, paid a visit to the OFW Lounge at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Wednesday, January 17.

The facility, located at the 4th Level of NAIA Terminal 1 departure area, serves as a waiting lounge for OFWs awaiting their flights. Coffee, water and snacks are all free in the lounge.

The senator made a request for the facility to be expanded to prevent overcrowding among OFWs.

He also inspected the restrooms and proposed that OWWA should provide bathrooms within the lounge area for the OFWs.

Tulfo was particularly instrumental in advocating for a substantial increase in funds allocated for the welfare of OFWs.
