Tats Suzara and company flew to Japan to talk with JVA officials on a training exchange program for 2023.

Officials of the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) and the Japan Volleyball Association (JVA) met on December 26 to forge a training exchange program for their respective national indoor and beach volleyball teams.

During a special non-working holiday in the Philippines, PNVF President Ramon “Tats” Suzara together with PNVF executive director Marie Louise Principe and executive assistant Antonio Carlos Jr., met with JVA chief Shunichi Kawai at the JVA headquarters in Tokyo, reported the Philippine News Agency.

"It is an honor and a privilege to be working alongside such strong federation with a grand tradition and rich history in the sport,” said Tats Suzara in a press statement on Wednesday.
“This collaborative partnership of PNVF with JVA helps underline the FIVB’s initiatives under its Empowerment Commission, to strengthen national training programs of different federations through knowledge transfer and sharing of best practices,” added Suzara, the duly appointed Secretary of Empowerment Commission by the International Volleyball Federation or FIVB.

This training program will greatly impact our national team as Japan’s program has been proved to be effective and adaptable in our local playing style as champion teams such as the De La Salle Lady Archers and the past Women’s National team have trained in Japan in preparation for competitions.

According to Tiebreaker Times, the agreement includes the Japanese Men’s team to arrive ahead of the Volleyball Nations League that the country will be hosting again in June for some friendlies and exhibition matches, together with some promotional events to hype the competition.

Another inclusion of the training program will be the training camp of Japan’s beach volleyball teams at Club Laiya in Batangas from January to February for their winter training.

Meanwhile, the Philippine indoor squads are scheduled to attend training camps with Japanese university or club teams for two weeks in April, while their outdoor counterparts will have their training at Japan’s national volleyball training center at the Toyota Center in Hekinan City in Aichi Prefecture in February and March.
