The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has issued a warning to motorists to be cautious of fake traffic violations circulating.
In an advisory, the agency reminded the public not to scan malicious QR codes that claim to allow payment for traffic violations.
The MMDA emphasized that the QR codes claiming to expedite the payment of traffic violations by scanning a link do not come from the agency.
For verification of traffic violation details, motorists can call the MMDA Redemption Center at 88984200 loc. 104 and 105.
The MMDA advises motorists who receive suspicious messages or posts on social media to call the MMDA Hotline 136 or send a message to the official MMDA accounts.
Meanwhile, MMDA acting Chairman Atty. Don Artes met with Deputy Insurance Commissioner Randy Serrano to discuss traffic management and the processing of motor insurance claims.
According to MMDA data, there are over 100 recorded vehicular accidents daily in Metro Manila, causing traffic congestion, especially when the involved vehicles are not immediately removed from the scene.
Currently, police officers must be awaited at the accident scene to conduct an investigation.
In response, Serrano mentioned that the Insurance Commission has issued a circular regarding the traffic incident investigation report as an alternative to the submission of a police report.
