Tots Carlos and Aduke Ogunsanya to make their debut in the national team.

The Philippine national volleyball team has called for the services of Tots Carlos and Aduke Ogunsanya as they are set to make their national team debut in the upcoming Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) International Challenge at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Carlos, the 5-foot-9 opposite spiker, just finished the most successful year of her volleyball career as the UP alumnus was named the Most Valuable Player and the Best Opposite Spiker award in the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference where she also led the Cool Smashers to their first professional title.

Meanwhile, Ogunsanya, a 5-foot-11 middle blocker hailing from De La Salle University, played a key role in Oliver Almadro’s rotation in her first season with Choco Mucho.

The new additions in the national team came after Ces Molina and Ria Meneses were left out of the roster while middle blocker Jaja Santiago will not be able to participate as she has already left for Japan for club season.

Set to test the national team are Japan and Thailand who have already arrived in the country ahead of the Week 2 of the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) starting next week at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Holdovers from the NT that were deployed for the Hanoi SEA Games are Alyssa Valdez, Mylene Paat, Aby Marano, Kat Tolentino, Jema Galanza, Dell Palomata, Majoy Baron, Iris Tolenada, Kyle Negrito, Dawn Macandili, and Kath Arado.

Games will start on Saturday against Thailand and Japan on Sunday, while the Philippine men’s volleyball team will also have a pair of exhibition matches against Japan on June 16 and Germany on June 27.

These matches will serve as a tune-up for Thailand and Japan which are seeing action in the Quezon City leg of the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) this June 14 to 19 at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
