Better education brings better societies by giving dreamers a chance.

Thus, the city government of San Pedro, Laguna under Mayor Art Mercado continues to champion such advocacies through consistently improving and providing its residents a better education.

Last June 18, the San Pedro City Polytechnic College (SPCPC) had its 4th Year-End Commencement Exercises with the theme “Embracing The Future Through smART (Accessible, Relevant, and Thriving) Education and Innovation” at the Pacita Astrodome.

Off to a good start

With 34 Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and 36 Bachelor of Science in Information Technology graduates present during their graduation, the city government couldn’t help but be proud of them and report the city’s accomplishments, as City Councilor Nina Almoro can attest.

“Last year, nagbahagi po ang ating city government ng backpacks na may kasamang school supplies simula po daycare hanggang senior high, sumunod naman po namigay ng school uniforms naman,” Almoro, who chairs the Committee of Education at the Sangguniang Panglungsod, reported in her speech during the event.

“Last month lang po, pasado na ang isinusulong nating ordinance na kung saan starting next year pwede na po kayo magapply ng mga ating senior high bilang isang scholar,” she added.

Almoro also reported that since Mercado took office in 2022, the city’s number of scholars has doubled by 200 percent, and still looks to add more by working on covering junior high school students.

Mayor’s message

Meanwhile, Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez also congratulated the graduates through a video message.

The ‘real heroes’

Mercado also appreciated the staff of SPCPC and of course, the taxpayers.
