Officials of the BoC-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) said the letter contained 100 pieces of Ecstasy tablets with a market value of over P170,000 concealed inside the documents.

A woman in Bulacan was arrested after receiving a letter which contained illicit party drugs from the Netherlands, the Bureau of Customs (BoC) said on Monday (November 22).

Officials of the BoC-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) said the letter contained 100 pieces of Ecstasy tablets with a market value of over P170,000 concealed inside the documents.

Port of NAIA District Collector Carmelita Talusan said that members of the BoC-NAIA operatives (Enforcement and Security Service), NAIA Inter-Agency Drugs Interdiction Task Group and Philippine Drug Enforcement Administration (PDEA) conducted a controlled delivery operation in Bulacan.

The shipment, the BoC-NAIA said, was intercepted at the Central Mail Exchange Center in Pasay City through routine examinations of all parcels and letters arriving from abroad.

The claimant, later identified by PDEA as Isabel Lim, and the party drugs were turned over to agency for custodial investigation and inquest for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Drugs Act and RA 10863 also known at the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.

A claimant was also arrested on November 16, 2021 after claiming a package declared as "wedding dress" in Taytay, Rizal. The Ecstasy tablets found on the package have a total value of P3.38 million.
