If you care to know, the late actress and ex-Pagsanjan, Laguna mayor Maita Sanchez, also known as Girlie Maita Javier-Ejercito, hailed from Negros Occidental
“My wife, the beautiful and lovely Maita Javier-Ejercito was from Silay City. I know that people from Silay City in Bacolod especially the Javiers are still mourning for the death of my wife who was very kind and understanding),” lamented ER Ejercito, actor and former governor of Laguna Province.
At pareho silang taga-Silay City (There were many coincidences with the members of my paternal family that occurred in my wife’s life? We met and fell in love with each other in the remake of ‘Asiong Salonga’ in 1987. By the way, the original movie was starred in by my uncle, Joseph Estrada in 1961. It was a coincidence that Maita and my aunt Guia Gomez played the same role, as Asiong’s second wife, in the respective films. Coincidentally, Maita and my aunt Guia have the same birth month, April. Maita was born April 2 while aunt Guia was April 20. And they both hailed from Silay City),” informed ER in our exclusive interview with him at the wake of Maita at the 1912 Don Porong Ejercito mansion in Pagsanjan, Laguna.
Maita was survived by her children Eric, Jet, Jerico, Maria Guadalupe, Diego and Gabriela, by siblings Lucy, Jennifer, Grace, Grace, Gary, Jenny and Cristanto and mom Melba Yulatic-Javier.
Sanchez died of endometrial cancer at the St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City last November 3, 2024 at 12:01 AM.
She was cremated on November 10, 2024 at a crematorium in Pila, Laguna.
She was 55.
Meanwhile, we learned from ER that his mom, Ramona Pelaya-Ejercito of Aklan passed away in 2020 of cancer.
She was also stressed when I was removed from office as governor of Laguna Province in 2014. She was also stricken with cancer because of stress which caused her death),” said ER.
