It is not hard to argue that healthcare should be accessible, but it begs the question of how it can be done.

For a developing province such as Quezon, the reality is much more challenging to achieve such ambition.

To begin with, the province is plagued with dilapidated hospital facilities, inadequate supply and limited manpower that lessen the chances of getting ever better.

This is not the kind of realization a typical Quezonin would like to have when it’s finally the time to visit their nearest clinic.

But these setbacks may soon be over with the advent of a leader that is not only familiar with but also knows the way around the healthcare system.

Her leadership brings about a new promise that does not stay as a mere floating idea—it goes right into the field.

She checks in on the hospitals across Quezon to be with the patients and health workers that experience the burden firsthand.

With her as a qualified health practitioner, it comes auspicious to the trajectory of the healthcare system in the province. Remember, too, that Governor Helen Tan led the House of Representatives’ Committee on Health for several years.

It might just be the answer to the longstanding dilemma of every Quezonin that sacrifices lengthy hours each visit to get a decent and proper health service.

But the road to victory must be fulfilled by actual results—it demands better hospitals and health centers; funding for facilities and medical supplies; additional rooms for patients; and holistic maternal and child health programs.

And little by little they are becoming apparent as Quezons begin to notice how once neglected hospitals transformed into their better iteration.

These gradual changes will have a ripple effect that even the far-flung barangays are reached and improved.

She dreams of a Quezon where families are rather encouraged to get consulted and treated without inhibition, and she is joined in this campaign by local officials and frontliners to provide the province the health service it needs.

Iba na kapag doktor ang governor!
