San Miguel guard Terrence Romeo is now awaiting the final doctor’s verdict after suffering a knee injury in their opening game in the 46th season of the PBA Philippine Cup.
San Miguel guard Terrence Romeo is expected to miss a couple of games after going down with a hyperextended knee injury in their opening game in the 46th season of the PBA Philippine Cup against the Meralco Bolts at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
After having the hot hands in San Miguel with only under nine minutes remaining in their 87-93 loss to Meralco, Romeo heard a “pop” planting his foot wrong and twisting his ankle then immediately grabbed onto his left knee.
He had to be helped out of the court and was taken straight to the dugout, exiting the contest with 18 points, three rebounds, two assists, and a steal off the bench.
“Meron (ma-miss na games). Malaman natin yung timeline once ma checkup siya ni Dr. Canlas,” said San Miguel physical therapist Edward Bacason who accompanied Romeo to the St. Luke’s Medical Center.
Team manager Gee Abanilla says that the Beermen can breathe a sigh of relief without further explanation as to his diagnosis and timeline for return.
“We have to wait for the doctor's assessment first," the team manager told ESPN5 in a text message. "Initial MRI results look good, but we have to wait for the doctor's opinion and official diagnosis upon his checkup soon. But at least we feel good about it."
“Intact naman lahat ng ligaments ni Terrence Walang tear sa ACL, meniscus, and MCL,” also added by Bacason.
An official diagnosis by Dr. Raul Canlasis expected on Tuesday, Abanilla also added.
The veteran guard also hinted that there was no major injury on his knee after posting on Instagram Story a simple “Thank you Lord so much” note accompanied by three praying emojis, a few hours after undergoing an MRI test.
Romeo had just returned to the hardcourt after having played just three games for San Miguel in the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup and was forced to leave the bubble in Clark, Pampanga due to a shoulder injury.
