Glamour, grace, and purpose took center stage on October 14 as ten empowered women from across Samar Island were officially sashed as candidates for Miss Universe Philippines–Samar 2025 during a glittering ceremony held at the Baypark Pavilion in Calbayog City.
The event marked the beginning of this year’s provincial journey to the Miss Universe Philippines crown, gathering young women who embody both beauty and advocacy.
Organized under the Miss Universe Philippines–Samar Island franchise, the sashing ceremony served as a celebration of Samar’s culture, tourism, and the strength of the modern Samarnon woman.
The ten official candidates representing different municipalities and cities across Northern, Eastern, and Western Samar were presented before an enthusiastic crowd of supporters, family, and local officials.
They are Abigail Alluso of Hernani, Eastern Samar; Shane Rovie Luay of Daram, Samar; Kline Mychille Paraguya of Guiuan, Eastern Samar; Lorie Sabate Carvajal of Borongan City; Joana Marie Padoc of Basey, Samar; Zandrea Alexxa Gudgad of Las Navas, Northern Samar; Catherine Bareja Wardle of Catbalogan City; Sairose Baldoza of Catubig, Northern Samar; Mila Rose Lawsin of Giporlos, Eastern Samar; and Kimm Rhianna Specht of Calbayog City.
This year’s pageant carries the theme “Radiance of Resilience,” highlighting Samar’s enduring spirit amid the challenges faced by its communities.
“Each sash represents a woman who carries her town’s pride and story. They are ambassadors of strength, compassion, and leadership,” a local official said.
The evening featured runway presentations, candidate introductions, and the unveiling of each contestant’s chosen advocacy, ranging from environmental protection and education to women’s empowerment and local tourism promotion.
Audience members cheered as each candidate walked across the stage, radiating confidence and pride.
In the weeks ahead, the candidates will engage in various pre-pageant events, including outreach programs, cultural showcases, and tourism shoots across the province.
The much-anticipated coronation night is set for November 30, 2025, where one of the ten will be crowned Miss Universe Philippines–Samar 2025 and move forward to represent the island in the national pageant next year.
As the lights dimmed on the Baypark Pavilion, one truth shone brightly, the women of Samar are not just symbols of beauty, but living embodiment of resilience, purpose, and hope for the next generation.
