Some politicians are very visible in church during the Holy Week. With exception of some who are sincerely doing their duty for their own faith and spiritual renewal, there are those who use the Church activities as platforms for their political agenda. This really happens.
When they say they believe in God, do they refer to the same God that we know or some other god like money and evil? There are political figures that have constantly used God’s name in vain, making God “witness” that he or she is innocent of the crime committed.
When keeping the Lord’s Day holy, don’t use it for your personal agenda but to enrich the spiritual self. Serve your fellowmen without tags and without boasting.
Honor your father and your mother by always being good even without the public eye. Honoring parents does not only mean loving them and serving them especially when you are capable and they are not. It also means making the most of yourself because they brought you into this world.
Some “good” politicians kill. And some followers don’t mind. What has become of us?
Must we regard adultery and concubinage a common practice. No one seems to mind anymore! Have we gone that low? With the advent of social media, we have been justifying what used to be unacceptable to religion and society.
Stealing from government coffers: have become acceptable as normal. The justice system is biased for the piwerful, the rich and the influential. It is not blindfolded as not to take sides. Countless people have become false witnesses against their fellowmen.
You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, The Commandment says, but look around. And the tenth Commandment, thou shall not covet your neighbor’s goods. Oh how we salivate and lust for what others have.
This Holy Week, let us reflect and help ourselves to be the person that God wants us to be. While it is true that no one is perfect, practice leads to perfection. Let us try everyday to be our best selves and even if we don’t reach perfection at least become better every single day. Just take it seriously and do it religiously. It is possible, doable and achievable.
