Tan activates DPWH ‘Lakbay Alalay’ in Region 1

SAN FERNANDO, La Union — “We do this every year. Not just in Region 1, but also in other regions of the DPWH. It has become an annual ‘panata’.”

This was the statement made by DPWH Region 1 Director Ronnel Tan, who for several consecutive years now is the head of the department’s best-performing region.

He was referring to the traditional and iconic “Lakbay Alalay” of the Department of Public Works and Highways to help motorists in their journey towards various destinations during the Holy Week.

This motorist assistance program has helped thousands of Filipino motorists during the long vacation coinciding with the Lenten celebration.

In an operational meeting in Pangasinan recently, Director Tan activated the Lakbay Alalay project in the Department of Public Works and Highways-Ilocos.

Teams composed of uniformed DPWH crew will be deployed in strategic locations in the region round-the-clock from March 28 to 29.


Emergency Operations Center

The DPWH Emergency Operations Center will be manned by the Maintenance Division of the DPWH-Region 1. Quick response teams of the Equipment Management Division are on standby to assist.

DPWH-Region 1 chief Ronnel Tan exhorted his staff as they gear up for the Holy Week.

“Siguraduhin na maayos, malinis, at hindi nakakaabala at huwag maging dahilan ng traffic ang ating mga daan itong Holy Week (Make sure that our roads are clean and orderly this Holy Week),” Tan said during the regional staff conference on March 20 at the DPWH-Region 1 in San Fernando City, La Union

It is the responsibility of DPWH Region 1 to make the highways and roads safe, especially in the routes going to Baguio City, and in President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos’ home region and province which is Ilocos Norte.




The following are the locations of Lakbay Alalay booths.

Ilocos Norte

The DPWH-Ilocos Norte First District Engineering Office (DEO) will be deployed in Laoag City, Burgos, and Barangays Tarrag and Pancian, Pagudpud.

The DPWH-Ilocos Norte Second DEO will be deployed in Barangay San Pablo, San Nicolas; Badoc, and Dingras on the Ilocos Norte-Apayao Road.

Ilocos Sur

The DPWH-Ilocos Sur First DEO will be in Napo, Magsingal; and Barangay V, Poblacion and Ilocos Sur First DEO in Bantay.

The DPWH-Ilocos Sur Second DEO will be on the Manila North Road in Bitalag, Tagudin; Tagudin-Cervantes Road, Barangay Calaoa-an, Candon, and Barangay Quinarayan, Narvacan.

La Union

The DPWH-La Union First DEO will be on the MNR in Camilo Osias, Balaoan; Barangays Cacapian and Ili Sur in San Juan, and the La Union First DEO in Barangay Lingsat and Pagdalagan Norte in San Fernando City.

The DPWH-La Union Second DEO will be on the MNR in Barangays Pottot and Central West in Bauang, Santa Rita West in Aringay, San Agustin Sur in Agoo, Subusub, Rosario, and Rosario-Pugo Road in Poblacion East, Pugo.

Pangasinan

The DPWH-Pangasinan First DEO will assist motorists at the District Engineering Office on the Pangasinan-Zambales Road.

The DPWH-Pangasinan Second DEO will help motorists in Guibel, San Jacinto on the Mangaldan-Manaoag-Binalonan Road, and Manat, Binmaley, on the Pangasinan-Zambales Road.

The DPWH-Pangasinan Third DEO will be on the MNR in Pozorrubio, Barangay Linmansangan on the Mangaldan-Manaoag-Binalonan Road in Binalonan, Barangay Anonas in Urdaneta City, and MNR in Barangay in Rosales.

The DPWH-Pangasinan Fourth DEO will be in Maningding, Santa Barbara; Urdaneta Junction-Dagupan Road, Tuliao, Santa Barbara; Urdaneta Junction-Dagupan Road, and Calasiao, Urdaneta Junction-Dagupan Road.
