'Takbo Para sa Dambana'

Fun run organized for the construction of Landayan’s ‘Pilgrim Church’

"Takbo na para kay Lolo Uweng!"

The administrators of the Diocesan Shrine of the Holy Sepulchre in Barangay Landayan, San Pedro City, Laguna is now spearheading a fun run this coming November.

The event, dubbed "Takbo Para sa Dambana," is part of a fund-raising campaign for the ongoing construction of the new "Pilgrim Church" in Barangay Landayan.

"Halina’t tumakbo para kay Lolo Uweng at sa pangarap nating maitayong simbahan: isang simpleng hakbang, isang malaking ambag ng pagmamalasakit, at pananampalataya," the administrators of the Diocesan Shrine of the Holy Sepulchre said in its official Facebook page.

Participants can enter into two categories, with the corresponding fees:

  • 1.5 kilometer: ₱500 (inclusive of Race Shirt + Race Bib + Finisher’s Medal)
  • 3 kilometer: ₱550 (inclusive of Race Shirt + Race Bib + Finisher’s Medal)

The fun run is scheduled for November 29, 2025 (Saturday), with assembly at the Via Crucis Meditation Garden at 4:30 a.m.

Participants may register at the following venues:

- Lolo Uweng Shrine Parking Lot

Friday: 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Sunday: 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

- St. Teresa of Calcutta Chapel, 4th Floor, Robinsons Galleria South Mall

Saturday: 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Sunday: 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The Diocesan Shrine of the Holy Sepulchre, popularly known as "Lolo Uweng Shrine," has long been one of the leading pilgrimage sites for Roman Catholics in Laguna province and beyond.

The shrine houses an image of Jesus Christ in the Holy Sepulchre (Santo Entierro) dating back from the Spanish occupation of the Philippines, long believed to be a source of miracles and blessings for the thousands of pilgrims who flock to the shrine each year.
