Swimmers Remedy Rule and Luke Gebbie have been awarded with 2 events due to today’s circumstances as opposed to previous universality spots given with only 1 event given, according to Philippine Swimming Inc. president Lani Velasco.

Two more Filipinos qualified for the Tokyo Olympics as the Fédération Internationale de Natation (FINA) confirmed that Remedy Rule and Luke Gebbie will be taking the allocated universality places to be able to compete in the quadrennial meet.

According to the International Olympic Committee's universality rule, the country can send one male and one female who have tallied the highest number of FINA points.

Gebbie and Rule have been awarded with 2 events due to today’s circumstances as opposed to previous universality spots given with only 1 event given, according to Philippine Swimming Inc. president Lani Velasco.

“The two individuals emerged as the top ranked male and female swimmers from the Philippines following their performance during the qualifying window,” Velasco said in a statement.

Filipino-American Rule who accumulated 830 FINA points made it in the women's 200m butterfly with an entry time of 2 minutes, 9 seconds and 58 milliseconds, and in the 200m freestyle after clocking 2:00.35.

Meanwhile, Filipino-Australian Gebbie tallied 828 points and will enter in the men's 100m freestyle after submitting a time of 49.94 seconds, which he achieved in the 2019 FINA World Championships in Gwanju, South Korea, and the 50m freestyle with a time of 22.57 seconds.

The 24-year-old Gebbie brought home a silver and bronze medal during the 2019 Southeast Asian Games while also 24-year-old Rule scored three silvers and two bronzes.
