I have a confession to make.
My first exposure to Sweetnotes (a team publicly seen of a female crooner and a male guitarist-cum-singer whom I eventually discovered to be a couple), was whenever I was going to the southern province of Quezon and leaving it for the big city.
The buses I took usually play in their digital flat screen TV from a bank of pirated music or film presumably sourced out from a cellphone a series of recorded concerts--obviously held in bars and plazas--of these two performers who have only one camera (whether video or cellphone cam) shot angle (its recorder steady in one place) but their voices, especially, and performances, albeit ordinary and wornout choreography and blocking, were the attractions.
Whenever I saw and watched them I felt and wondered what would lie ahead of their musical careers.
Eventually, I learned that Sweetnotes already competed in ABS-CBN's "It's Showtime"'s "Tawag ng Tanghalan" singing contest and made a mark even if they were not champions.
That joining "TNT," indeed, can flourish careers of musicians in and out of mass media.
At the moment, Sweetnotes (composed of Jeffrey Bactong, Jr. or simply called BJ and his love partner Chalotte Mae Bactong) is taking the whole Visayan Region by storm.
This storm is a different typhoon from the typical tropucal depressions and cyclones normally pounding on regions in the Philippines like Samar and Leyte of Region 8 or provinces of Region VII like Cebu and its neighboring places.
The storm is a musical one.
As a matter of fact, Sweetnotes has already conquered many parts of the Visayas like Cebu, Lapu-Lapu, Carcar, Liloan, among others.
In Region VI, Jeffrey and Charlotte Mae have already made the residents of Iloilo, Antique, Capu, Aklan happy with their shows.
The crowds were tremendous and appreciative of their mass appealing songs.
Meanwhile, rapper Elias has joined the provincial tour of Sweetnotes in the Visayas and Mindanao.
Last January 17, 2026, they collaborated in a show held at La Paz District Plaza in Iloilo City.
