The city government of San Pablo, Laguna has assured residents of continued water supply, amid concerns over a major water source in this city.

In a recent statement issued on social media, the San Pablo City Information Office said that it is ensuring the continued supply of water to residents after the contract between the LGU and the private company over its bulk water treatment plant ended effective December 31, 2025.

The San Pablo CIO said it has conducted studies and consultations between the LGU, the San Pablo City Water District, and J.E. Hydro Bio-energy Corp., which operated the San Rafael Bulk Water Treatment Plant until last year.

The city government made the statement after the SPCWD issued a statement on December 29, which raised concerns over the expiry of the contract to operate the San Rafael Bulk Water Treatment Plant.

The SPCWD claimed that the LGU has yet to award a contract or formal agreement to allow the SPCWD to operate the plant after December 31, 2025.

It also urged local government officials to address the issue at the soonest possible time to avoid disruptions in the city's water supply.

It is expected that over 6,738 households in the barangays of San Rafael, Santa Monica, Santa Veronica, San Nicolas and the Poblacion area may experience low water pressure due to the uncertainties over the bulk water treatment plant.

In a separate statement, the San Pablo City LGU said it is now preparing an agreement between the city government and the SPCWD for the continued operation of the treatment plant.
