Airline passengers travelling through the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) need not worry that their travel plans might be disrupted by the planned reassignment of airlines operating at the Philippines' main gateway.

In a statement, the New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) assured passengers that the status quo will remain in place after it took over the operations of the airport last September 14.

"The New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) reiterates to the public that no immediate changes to terminal assignments will occur," the NNIC statement said.

NNIC General Manager Angelito Alvarez has guaranteed travelers that any upcoming terminal reassignments or changes will be implemented in a slow and strategic manner.

"These adjustments will be aligned with ongoing infrastructural and technical upgrades at the airport, ensuring a seamless experience for passengers," Alvarez said.

Alvarez added the terminal reassignments will not be implemented all at once but phased over time, with the goal of minimizing disruptions.

The new airport management said it "is committed to keeping the public informed, and any changes to terminal assignments will be communicated in advance to ensure a smooth and efficient transition as part of broader modernization efforts."

Reports said the NNIC is allocating around P144 billion to oversee and enhance NAIA.

The project seeks to tackle the enduring issues of lack of capacity, crowding, and inadequate funding at the country's premier airport.
