Frequent visitors of the Social Security System (SSS) have often shared their thoughts about the hassle they usually encounter at the government agency.
It includes enduring the required travel time, long queues, and the unfortunate transactional difficulties that inhibit anyone from having a smooth sailing experience.
With the launch of its “Palengke Caravan,” SSS aims to alleviate this problem through mobile e-Wheels services to public markets and barangays across selected towns and cities nationwide.
SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Joseph De Claro said he understands this situation among certain Filipinos whose simple visit to a single branch can cost an arm and leg in the process.
“For many pensioners, informal workers, and members in underserved communities, even a single branch visit can mean transportation expenses, lost income, and hours spent in line,” De Claro said in a press statement.
“Through the SSS e-Wheels / Palengke Caravan, we are bringing government services directly to communities so people can access assistance and complete transactions closer to where they live and work,” he added.
According to De Claro, market vendors and ambulant sellers are the top priority for this program because of their inability to visit branch offices as they cannot afford to leave their small businesses unattended.
Pensioners and beneficiaries can expect the SSS e-Wheels roaming within Metro Manila starting on May 25, which targets to serve around 21,500 clients.
It will then branch out to several provinces and cities such as Calapan, Oriental Mindoro; Legazpi, Albay; Silay City, Negros Occidental; and Siargao Island, Surigao del Norte on May 27; and Virac, Catanduanes on May 28.
Among the services offered include employer registration, inquiries and verification, Annual Confirmation of Pensioners or ACOP, updating of member data records, issuance of SSS numbers and forms, and online-related transactions such as My.SSS registration, password resetting, Payment Reference Number generation, pension loan applications, and benefit claim applications.
Another notable feature of this program is the launch of its facial authentication with liveness check for ACOP verification, which allows eligible pensioners to complete verification faster and more conveniently without visiting branches.
