Being an athlete himself, actor and politician Richard Gomez is the number one fan and supporter of sportsmen.
In any kind of sport, Richard is very generous about sharing, not only financial contributions but experiences and coaching the right and winnable pieces of advice from a professional sportsman like him.
He isn’t only a basketball player. Richard or Goma is a fencer and archer as well.
If given the chance to dip into the waters, whether sea or artificial aquatic reservation like a swimming pool, the Congressman from the 4th District of Leyte Province plunges and swims his way in.
That is why Goma was one of the leaders when the 2024 Eastern Visayas Regional Athletic Association (EVRAA) kicked off recently in Ormoc City.
Grandest Opening
Ormoc City is the center of various sports activities of the provincial and regional meet.
Goma has described the opening of the 2024 EVRAA on the first weekend of May: “Indeed, the grandest opening, so far.
“More than 9,000 athletes all over the region were welcomed and entertained during the Grand Opening Ceremony of the EVRAA 2024 last May 5, 2024 at the Ormoc City Sports Complex.
“Colorful and grand performances by the legendary Andrew E., Asia’s Limitless Star Julie Ann Jose, Alex Gonzaga, BGYO, and the PBA Legends Asi Taulava and Gary David enchanted the audience — athletes and guests alike.
“The opening ceremony was hosted by Gretchen Ho and Migs Bustos.
“The theme song for EVRAA MEET 2024 entitled ‘Eastern Visayas, Quest for the Best’ was launched and performed by Julie Ann San Jose, BGYO, and Andrew E.
“The cauldron was lit and the EVRAA MEET 2024 was declared open.
“Good luck to all the athletes and welcome to Ormoc City.”
