The Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) alongside the city government of Biñan, the Coalition of Solid Waste Management Provider Foundation Inc. (CSWMPFI), and the Philippine Coast Guard recently conducted the 8th Abot-Kamay Para sa Laguna de Bay: Mission in Action – Solid Waste Recovery in Barangay Poblacion in Biñan City, Laguna.

During the event, around 200 volunteers were able to collect 1,461.75 kilograms of solid waste, 687.75 kilograms of plastic, 688 kilograms of non-biodegradable, and 86 kilograms of biodegradable.

Acting General Manager of LDDA Atty. Senando Santiago also shared a message of the redefined concept of 3R from Reuse, Reduce Recycle to Recovery, Repurposing, and Revenue.

Participants also pledged their support for the initiative.

Among those who signed the declaration of support were Biñan City Representative Len Alonte, Mayor Arman Dimaguila, City Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) head Rodelio Lee, other local government officials, and members of the business sector.

“LLDA continuously dedicates its efforts to protecting and preserving Laguna de Bay, aiming for a vibrant and clean future,” the agency said.

The program was also partnered with Laguna Water, Jollibee Foods Corporation, Kopiko Philippines Corporation, and Gardenia Bakeries Philippines Incorporated.
