Sofia Laurel takes pride as member of Woodrose Chorale

This early, award-winning choral group Woodrose Chorale has been taking not only the nation but the European continent as well by storm.

Last April, Woodrose Chorale, an all-girls singjng group from PAREF Woodrose, an exclusive girls school in Ayala Alabang, competed at the Golden Voices of Montserrat in Spain winning First Prize in the Folklore Category and Second Prize in the Children's Choir Category.

At the recently concluded 2025 Palawan International Choral Festival held in Puerto Princesa City, Woodrose Chorale bagged the plum for the Equal Voices Category, Audience Choice and Best in Traditional Folklore.

Here's one historical fact about an individual among the girls.

Do you know that one of the active and exemplary members of the group is Sofia Laurel?
Sofia Laurel who?

Sofia Laurel, a great granddaughter of the late former President of the Philippines, Jose P. Laurel, a native of Batangas Province, one of the members of CALABARZON Region.

"Sofia is very proud she is a descendant of a great man," beamed Samantha Amigo Laurel, mom of Sofia at Astorias Hotel in Puerto Princesa one afternoon during the lull period of the festival.

Sofia is also a relative of another famous Laurel, this time, fashion designer Rajo Laurel who is the brother of her dad, Jose David Laurel.

The Woodrose Chorale pride is a cousin of popular entertainers Iwi Laurel, Pia Laurel, Nicole Laurel Asencio, Jinky Laurel, the late Victor "Cocoy" Laurel, among other distinguished artists from the clan.
