Motorists from Calamba City’s newest residential areas in its southern barangays will soon have a more convenient connection to Metro Manila with the construction of a new interchange at the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX).

Last Monday, October 14, Calamba City Mayor Roseller “Ross” Rizal joined San Miguel Corporation (SMC) Chairman and CEO Ramon Ang, Ayala Corp. chairman Jaime Zobel de Ayala, Transportation Undersecretary for Road Transport Jesus Ortega and other officials at the groundbreaking ceremony of the new Ayala Greenfield interchange.

The new interchange will help ease traffic in the area and provide another convenient access to the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) once completed, according to officials.

“[It] will help ease traffic congestion in the area, pave the way for more opportunities, and enhance the life of every resident not just in Calamba but also in the Calabarzon area,” Ortega said.

Mayor Rizal added that the project is a “beacon of progress and opportunity.”

“[The interchange addresses] the growing volume of vehicles and visitors that flock to the resort capital of the Philippines and the growth corridor of the Calabarzon region, Calamba City,” he said.

Once completed, the interchange will connect the SLEX Toll Road 3 to local roads.

It will provide easier access to SLEX and the STAR Tollway for motorists coming from Calamba.
