While it had originally slated a 2022 release in theaters in Japan when it was first announced, the official website for Slam Dunk's movie has been launched in multiple languages as part of the Jump Festa 2022 celebrations.

Following the confirmation of the classic anime series “Slam Dunk” for 2022, the publisher took to Twitter to release a new visual teasing the animated film.

While it had originally slated a 2022 release in theaters in Japan when it was first announced, the official website for Slam Dunk's movie has been launched in multiple languages as part of the Jump Festa 2022 celebrations.

From the image posted in their official Twitter account, it can be seen that one player fist-bumping another person.

The presence of a wristband may reveal that the character at the right is Kiminobu Kogure. However, the color is not the Shohoku vice-captain’s usual white color.

Highlighting the poster is the catchphrase that reads “Just, I don’t want to lose.”

Series creator Takehiko Inoue will be writing and directing the film himself for Toei Animation. Inoue will be joined in the staff with the likes of Yasuyuki Ebara as character designer and animation director, Daiki Nakazawa as CG director, Yuta Ogura as CG producer, Kazuo Ogura as art director, Yota Tsuruoka and Koji Kasamatsu as sound directors, and Katsuhiko Kitada, Naoki Miyahara, Toshio Ohashi, and Yu Kamatani technical directors.

“Slam Dunk” originally debuted in Shueisha‘s Weekly Shōnen Jump back in 1990 with a six-year serialization run.

The manga series sold over 120 million volumes in Japan and beloved anime series that ran from 1993 to 1996 which led to four animated feature films. Inoue’s “Slam Dunk” series is credited with helping popularize basketball in Japan and progressing the sports manga/anime genre.

With thirty-one volumes to its name, and a number of anime films and a television series being released over the years to better flesh out the story of the Shohoku High School basketball team.

Inoue himself will be writing and directing the upcoming feature-length film, with the mangaka also being responsible for some classic series.
